BAKERY ASSISTANT (Tukwila Store)  –  Job Summary

REPORTS TO:  The Lead Baker and the Deli Manager

JOB SUMMARY

This position assists the Lead Baker and Deli Department Manager with baked goods production.  The successful candidate will help to manage all production and inventory of bakery items, and assist other parts of the deli as needed.

DUTIES

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Always greet the customers with a smile and thank you. Be courteous and respectful.
  • Ensure all bakery items served to customer are hot and fresh and replenish food on a timely basis in all areas of responsibility.
  • Made food for special request by customers.

DELI DEPARTMENT

  • Bake and cook all items for Deli department in accordance to the company recipes.
  • Made products for catering requests, party platters and any other special request by customers.
  • Ensure all prep work is completed and ready for use.
  • Ensure all food served are freshly cooked. Discard any food products that do not meet department/company standards.
  • Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise when needed; check and verify products received to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered; check products for accuracy, quality and condition.
  • Keep manager or other designated personnel informed of low inventory conditions or spoilage problems.
  • Control shrinkage of products and excessive use of utilities.
  • When closing the kitchen, make sure all food are either discarded or properly wrapped and stored.
  • Ensure all food served meets the state and county health & food safety standards

PREFERRED SKILL SETS, QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES and ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Bakery experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Prior retail experience and knowledge of Asian food is preferred, but not required.
  • Flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Standing for long period of times.
  • Schedule may require as early as 5am start time
  • Able to frequently lift up 50lbs.
  • Able to see, read, write, talk, hear, walk, and climb ladders
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Constant lifting of products.
  • Exposure to heat from the stoves and ovens.
  • Exposure to cold from going in and out of the cooler.
  • Use of knives
  • Slippery/greasy floors.
